At Spencer Harvey, we like to think that we are about more than just property in Stockport and Greater Manchester. Yes, this is our area of expertise and if you have any questions or you need support in the local property market, we are the company you should call on. We know that houses are important but for most people, homes are only important because they are the place where they stay or the place that keeps their loved ones and their possessions protected from the outside world.
We focus on property but we look to support the local community and we’re delighted to have recently run a competition that shone a spotlight on talented kids from Cale Green Primary School. We wanted to brighten up our main office but we were blown away by the quality of Christmas themed artwork we received from pupils of the school. We offered up three main prizes but every child that entered the prize got a gift for their efforts and of course, the entries were placed on display, and there have been many people coming to our office to view the artwork.
There are many great youngsters in Stockport
We are clearly big fans of the youngsters in Stockport and we aren’t the only ones. This can be seen in the great night had at the Stockport Young Stars Awards, with the event bring run by Stockport Council. The event was a celebration of the youth in the local area and it was great to see more than 300 people in attendance at the event which lasted for more than three hours at Stockport Town Hall. The event focused on youngsters who have enjoyed education and training in a positive manner.
The event was organised by the 14-19 service provider in the council, and there was also recognition for local employers who provide opportunities for these youngsters. It isn’t just about providing training or work experience, there is also recognition of events that took place in school, such as mock interviews. This is the sort of thing that can trip youngsters up when they are doing it for the first time so being able to run through an interview process before it is real is a great comfort for the kids of Stockport.
There was also a raffle on the night which managed to raise over £500 and this sum of money was split between the charities currently endorsed by the Mayor of Stockport. This means that the money went to St Ann’s Hospice and the Samaritans of Stockport.
There were a number of award winners but on an evening like this, so many people are winners, making it a brilliant night for the local community.
