While many people have found that the state of the UK economy has harmed their job chances, others view trouble as an opportunity. Plenty of people have the attitude that says if “life gives you lemons, make lemonade” but there is also a lot to be said for taking limes and then coming up with a great gin n tonic. You’ll need a few more ingredients to ensure that you have a cool and refreshing drink to enjoy this summer and autumn but this is where a new Stockport based company may be able to help out.
The Gin Parlour is based in Stockport and they are looking to provide an online service that delivers gin to the people of Greater Manchester. While gin may lag behind vodka and whisky for many people, you only have to look towards one of Manchester’s favourite musical sons to realise how potent a gin n tonic can be. Supersonic was the debut single by Manchester band Oasis and one of the lines ran; “I’m feeling supersonic, give me gin n tonic” and a drink that was previously considered as being for more mature ladies had queues of lads clamouring for the drink.
Enjoy gins from all around the world
There has been a reinvention of gin in recent times and the fact that UK firms have been able to bring gin from all over the world to the UK has revitalised this market. The Gin Parlour aims to sell more than 60 different gins and 35 tonics and the company is keen to support local distilleries. This means firms like Manchester Gin and Zymurgorium will be promoted. The Gin Parlour also aims to sell gin from countries like Australia and the United States of America, ensuring that there is a global feel to the drinks on offer.
The company initially had the idea of opening a bar or a gin joint but upon looking at the finances, they decided that an online delivery service was the most viable way to get started. They haven’t yet ruled out running a physical shop or a bar but for now, Stockport residents will be able to sit comfortable at home and wait for their gin to be delivered to them. This is an option that many people prefer and the volume of people drinking in bars and clubs has fallen.
Stockport, like so many places in the country, has experienced a rise in home drinking with the low cost of alcohol from supermarkets convincing many people of the value to be found from staying at home with a couple of drinks.
This option won’t really impact on the Stockport property market but at Spencer Harvey, we’ll certainly raise a glass to this Stockport firm and wish them all the best.
