There is some positive news coming from the people behind Aurora Stockport, which is the new industrial park, located just off Junction 1 of the M60. This is an industrial park stretching across 146,000 sq ft and it is now 75% let, thanks to a spate of companies signing up and conforming in the past couple of days. The park is set to be complete in December this year and Baumüller and Aeroco have agreed to join the action. This is great news for the development, which is being led by Stockport Council, and the local council authority has announced that they expect to make a “further large announcement” very soon.
Big companies taking up a lot of space
Baumüller will be joining in early 2018, and they are a company in the electro-mechanical engineering sector. They have two units and their space will cover close to 20,000 sq ft. The fit out for these units has already been completed, so they can look forward to being present in the local area in the New Year. Aeroco have also taken two units and they will have 20,000 sq ft of space for their aircraft maintenance work.
While people in politics are prone to exaggeration and a touch of hyperbole, the words of Kate Butler, who is the Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration, will ring true for many people. Butler said; “The transformation that has taken place at Aurora Stockport is astounding.” This project is just one of the many projects that are breathing new life into Stockport and there is a lot to like and enjoy about local life at the moment.
Hopefully there will be more employment opportunities for local residents and there will likely be more people being drawn to the Stockport area thanks to these developments. This can only be good for the area and we believe this is another indicator that Stockport is on the rise.
