Stockport Town Hall was packed with over 400 people as the business community came together once again. This was the fifth celebration of the Stockport Business Awards and the night saw a dozen companies and individuals being recognised for their work in the area. This sort of event is vital for highlighting the work being undertaken by firms and it can help people involved with local work get together and network.
This means that in the days and weeks to come there will hopefully be a few more deals and partnerships being lined up as the Stockport business community continues to work together in an effective manner.
Some of the big winners on the night include:
- George Cox & Sons – Business of the Year at a £5m level
- Madison Medical Professionals – Business of the Year between £1m and £5m
- Platform 81 – Business of the Year up to £1m
- Life Leisure – Employer of the Year
Other winners included Chris Appleyard from the Pioneer Group, Distology, UK Biobank, Premier Textiles, Seashell Trust, Rhode Island Coffee and Four Heatons Traders Association.
These winners have a new place to celebrate in Stockport
One market that has exploded in recent times is the craft beer market and Stockport has welcomed a new craft beer and real ale tap room in recent weeks. The new venture is called The Petersgate Tap and you’ll find a range of local produce on offer at the venue. This means that firms like Thirst Class and Cloudwater, both brewed in the local vicinity will be on offer in Stockport. It is all very well seeing businesses thrive but it is vital to also have a place where people can relax after work. The Petersgate Tap is aiming at the high end of craft beer, and is sure to be a good addition to the Stockport leisure industry.
Another Stockport company that has experienced good news of late is MyBuzz. This is an IT consultancy firm that is known for creating apps. The digital age is upon us and this is the sort of company that helps to drive businesses forward. The company has recently been celebrated funding of £25,000 which has come from Business Finance Solutions. The app the company is currently working on brings businesses and shift workers together, so there will hopefully be firms and residents in the Stockport and Greater Manchester area who benefit from this further backing.
While we’re keen to support local businesses, we believe that a thriving business community can only be positive for the local community and the Stockport housing market in general. When businesses are developing, they need more employees so this can have a positive impact on the local job market. Also, if local firms are helping and using other nearby businesses, everyone gets a boost and before you know it, the area is on the up. This is why every bit of good news about businesses in Stockport should be celebrated.
