You may hear a lot of people saying that Stockport is in need of brightening up and for once, it seems as though the local council has listened. This is because Stockport Council have been working on a Stockport Arts Trail and the Brinnington Youth Centre has been the beneficiary of this work. The building has been transformed and if you feel as though the area has been in need of a touch-up or freshening up, your wishes have been answered.
While the new look of the building may be too exciting and vivid for some, there has been a lot of good work pulled together for this project. The work has seen two local artists, Karen Allerton and Russ Meehan, work alongside youngsters from the Youth Offending Service run by Stockport Council. The look of the mural on the outside of the centre relies on a street-art style and it has certainly added a new colour and feel to the local area.
Make the most of your local community
Not only has the project given youngsters the chance to get involved with their local community, they enjoyed a couple of trips and expeditions. If you are going to add something of value and merit to your local area, it makes sense to look for inspiration. This saw the group make their way to the Reddish Vale Country Park, the Northern Quarter in Manchester and even to the Manchester Art Gallery. Seeing how art can capture and celebrate industrial heritage and the feel of the local environment was important in creating something that would be right at home in Stockport. Thankfully, it seems as though the trips were put to good use with the finished artwork being praised by a range of people, groups and media sources.
You don’t need to go to the levels of this group to create a buzz or interest in the local area or your business, but you should think about presentation. At the very least, you want have to make sure that your home or business premises are clean and presentable. If you are looking to draw people to you, to boost your business or even to sell your home, having something that stands your home apart from other local property makes sense.
Now, this mural on the side of a youth centre is not something that you should add to your home before placing it on the market, but there is a lot to be said for presenting your property in the most appropriate manner. You should also think about the exterior of your property because first impressions count for a lot. If you want to present your property in the most effective manner, but don’t want to add a mural to the outside of your home, get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.
