While there is a lot of focus on what is happening in the Stockport property market, a lot of people are interested in what is taking place in the Greater Manchester property market. This is even more the case when a Stockport based building firm is the company that has obtained planning consent to develop a new residential scheme in the city. Rowlinson Construction is the company that has obtained the scheme and they will be bringing a range of properties, as designed by Buttress Architects, to Moss Side in Manchester.
The plans revolve around over 50 two and three storey properties that have been designed with families in mind and over 200 apartments. The apartments are set to feature one to three bedrooms so there should be a good spread of availability in the new developments. Of the 204 apartments that are set to be added, a total of 72 apartments will be set aside to be used for retirement accommodation.
The area that has been set aside for retirement purposes will share a garden while the other properties will have private gardens. When you add in the fact that development will also feature tree-lines streets, it is hoped that there will be a marked improvement in the bio-diversity standards of the local area.
The new development is on the site of the former Stagecoach home
The site for the new development used to be the home of the bus company Stagecoach, with the transport company being found in the area for over 100 years. Stagecoach relocated back in 2011 and there has been nothing on the site since that point, so this development has been welcomed by many people within the local community.
The Stockport based building company that was successful in the tender is set to start work in spring of 2017, which isn’t that far away. Hopefully there will be more news about planning permission for projects in the spring and summer of the New Year before too long.
At Spencer Harvey, we are delighted to see Stockport based businesses doing well, so this news is definitely something that appeals to us. We would be slightly more interested if the new property development work was taking place in Stockport but anything which brings a wide range of homes to the Greater Manchester area has to be seen as a positive for many people and businesses in the local area.
We’re always keen to read about planning permission progress or new developments across the city and wider region and if you want to keep up to date with what is happening with Greater Manchester property, make sure you stay in touch with us.
