North Of England Is UK Property Development Hotspot

There is no denying the North of England is in good shape compared to the rest of the country when it comes to property development. There is room for improvement, and hopefully, things will get better, but you often hear how experts and industry professionals rate the North of England highly.

The latest backing for this part of the country comes from a national study of developers, undertaken by the finance specialist Together. Their research shows that 65% of respondents say they intend to increase their investment activity in the north of the country in the next two years. The areas of most significant interest for these respondents are houses and flats.

The North East is a popular area for property developers to consider

For the North East, 57% of respondents suggest it the most opportunity-rich of the country, with the North West coming in at 42% and Wales at 40%. Scotland has been recognised by 38% of respondents as a location primed for investment, Yorkshire and Humberside was cited by 22%, and the South East was mentioned by 13% of respondents.

96% of property developers who undertook the survey said they back the Northern Powerhouse initiative, while 64% said their experience in this area had been “very positive”.

Our own experience reflects these findings having supported a significant number of new developments in the North with a healthy future pipeline too.”

Charnley continued by saying; “The chronic supply/demand imbalance in residential housing is creating the biggest opportunities yet many developers continue to be hampered by obstacles such as a shortage of suitable sites and access to finance.
