NEW LOOK TO STOCKPORT EDUCATIONAL OPTIONS

New Look To Stockport Educational Options

It would be fair to say that Stockport is changing and there may be a big alteration to the way that Stockport College looks. This is because plans have been announced for Stockport College and Telford College to merge next year. If the plan goes ahead, forming the Trafford College Group, on the 31st of January 2018, the new venture will play host to more than 14,000 students while providing employment for more than 700 members of staff. The new venture will have a combined turnover of around £37m.

This is not the first time that the future of Stockport College has been up for debate and this means some parties will wait until the proposed changes have been finalised before getting too carried away. Earlier on in 2017, there was talk that a merger between Stockport College and colleges in Tameside and Oldham was close to taking place. That didn’t happen but there are hopes and expectations that progress will be made with this new plan.

At Spencer Harvey, we believe that good educational options in the area benefit many people. We hope that the proposed changes come to fruition, particularly if the hopes and aims of the new venture comes true.

Louise Richardson is the Chair of the Board of Governors at Stockport College. She spoke to local media, saying; “We are all very excited to be at this stage of the merger process. This merger will enable us to continue to do so for many years.” There is definitely an impact of education on the local community and the property market is also boosted by better educational options. The Student market has brought bouncy to many areas, particularly with the rental market but if there is a chance to further your development, local residents and businesses are boosted too.

Improvements to Stockport College can boost the whole community

This is why there will be many people who won’t have any dealings with the college who will be keen to see the changes take place. There is a great deal to be said for having a good educational facility in the local area and while the name Stockport College may no longer be present, knowing that there is a good educational facility in the area can only be positive news for all concerned in Stockport.
