NEW HOMES HEADING TO STOCKPORT

New Homes Heading To Stockport

Work has begun on a £6.5m housing development for Stockport, which is news that will surely be greeted with joy, and perhaps relief, in the local community. There will be 59 properties added to the site of the former St Thomas’ Hospital on Flint Street with the work being undertaken by Sneddon for Viaduct Housing Partnership. The Viaduct Housing Partnership is made up by Stockport Council and Stockport Homes, which is a housing association.

There will be a mixture of two and three bedroom houses and apartments. There will also be a mixture of ownership options available with rental properties and shared ownership options being added to the mix. Another important feature in the development comes with the fact that there will be four specially built properties for the needs of disabled residents.

New homes will be ready by 2019 in Stockport

While it is good news that the work is currently underway on the project, no one should expect the chance to move into the property anytime soon. This is because the project isn’t likely to be completed until December of 2018. This will dampen some of the enthusiasm for the project but on the whole, it should be good news for the local area. After all, the Viaduct Housing Partnership has a key aim of developing affordable property and this new development should play a big role in bringing affordable homes to the people of Stockport.

The site has been empty for the past decade and this means there will be a lot of people pleased about this development. Even if people aren’t too fussed about housing coming to the local area, there are many people that dislike properties or land lying unused and being left to rot. The move to develop the land into suitable accommodation is a positive step and it is one that should be welcomed by many in the local area.

At Spencer Harvey, we believe anything which brings new property opportunities to Stockport should be embraced and the initial signs about the property development are positive. The developers have spoken about their aim of creating property that develops a thriving community and this is something that will benefit all of Stockport, not just people who move into the new homes.
