There is good news for the business community in Stockport with musicMagpie all ready to move into their new business headquarters located at Stockport Exchange. There was an eight week fit out carried out by Overbury, and it appears that the work has met with approval from employees and people who have seen the new style and layout.
What better way for musicMagpie to celebrate their 10th anniversary and this move sees the company on the rise. Heading to the Stockport Exchange provides the company with a great base for attracting the best talent to the company. This is because the area is very easy to reach and is being recognised as a place where companies can do business effectively and efficiently. This is definitely one of the best places for a company to be found these days.
It seems as though there has been some influence from the Manchester music scene with Hacienda style stripes (black and yellow diagonal lines if you have to ask) and Stone Roses graphics to be found on the walls. The Stone Roses were one of the band who recorded in Stockport at the Strawberry Studios. This was when they worked with Martin Hannett, one of the most legendary producers of the 70s and 80s. This material was mainly scrapped, as the band struggled to record their debut album, but it is good to see present day Stockport tapping into the history of the area.

Hannett also worked with Joy Division in Stockport and there are also nods to the iconic cover of the band’s debut ‘Unknown Pleasures’ to be found around the premises.
There are also Space Invader graphics which are pretty cool while the PR line says this taps into the gaming nature of the company. That may be more of a story than the actual truth but it is always good to see a retro-gaming vibe going on, and the musicMagpie premises will benefit from this.
All of which makes for an exciting setting and it is good to see a local company prosper. It may have been easy for musicMagpie to up and leave to another area but the fact that they are hanging around in Stockport says a lot for what the area has to offer.
