GREATER MANCHESTER PUBLIC TRANSPORT IMPROVEMENT

Greater Manchester Public Transport Improvement

For an area to grow and develop, there needs to be a focus on helping people get around. While a lot of people will say that this should focus on improving roads and making it easier for motorists to get in and out of the local area, there is a return to focusing on public transport. This is the more environmentally friendly option and public transport, as the name suggests, makes it easier for more people to travel. This is why the latest announcements from Stagecoach relating to the Greater Manchester area will be of benefit to many people.

The company is reported to have invested more than £9m into a new fleet of coaches and buses for their routes in Greater Manchester. There will be over 50 new buses operating across various routes and there is some good news for the people from Stockport. This is because these new coaches will be used on the 23 service, the 23A service and the 24. The new coaches will also be used on the 250/X50 service which connects Stockport to the Trafford Centre. While some of these coaches are already in use, and you may have enjoyed a journey with one of them, the roll-out will soon be complete with the last of the additions to the Trafford centre services.

These new buses are environmentally friendly

One thing that will please many people is the fact that all of the new coaches are the Enviro 400 style of bus. This is a modern vehicle and it is said to offer the lowest level of engine emissions. There is no denying that Stagecoach have been proactive in Greater Manchester in recent times and a significant amount of money has been spent by the firm in the area. Taking in the last 10 years, the company has spent over £120m, which has had a positive impact on the local community.

In the last three years alone, 100 new buses have been added to local services. These buses come equipped with Wi-Fi, there are USB charging points and with a focus on environmentally friendly emissions, these buses can help people feel better about themselves when taking public transport. Driving a car can be convenient but with more and more people taking a serious interest in saving the environment and having a greener outlook on life, public transport needs to meet these needs and Stagecoach in Greater Manchester is meeting the needs of many people.

At Spencer Harvey, we believe it is vital that people have as much support in getting in, out and around Stockport and Greater Manchester. These new environmentally friendly coaches should ensure Stockport residents find it easier, and greener, to take care of their daily or weekly tasks.
